The junior exhibitors of the dog show community are the future of our sport.  It is important that we have events that they can compete in and learn about the dog show world.

The Louisville Kennel Club was the 1st club in the country, in 2004, to hold a regional competition for junior handlers.  This is now what the American Kennel Club calls the Limited Junior Handler Competition.

The Top 4 Junior Handlers of The Kentuckiana Regional Junior Handler Competition are awarded a college scholarship. This very prestigous competition has increasing grown larger every year.

Juniors must reside in the states of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

A junior must have 2 Open wins with competition from January 31, 2017 to  January 31, 2018 to qualify for the Regional Competition held at the Louisville Kennel Club Sunday Show.

Get your qualifing wins now and we hope to see you competing with us next year!

There is also a junior dog judging competition held at the Friday Louisville Kennel Club show.  We have 4 or 5 breeds of dogs that an AKC licensed judge places 1st through 4th, just like they would in an actual dog show class.  The juniors place the dogs the way they feel the judge would based on the merits of the dogs to its breed standard.  It's a very educational and fun event for juniors, handlers and judge alike.  We have exhibitors and judges volunteering to participate for the next year. Here again the participation has increased yearly.   This competition is open to anyone 9-18 years of age. It's FREE but you must register by the day of the show..

We also offer a Meet the Breeds during the shows, that a lot of junior exhibitors participate in to educate the general public about their breed of dog.  This is another fun event that everyone gets a lot of enjoyment out of.
